Volunteer Membership

Sparta Ambulance Squad needs volunteer members aged 16 and above with all talents! There are multiple ways in which you can serve SAS and in turn serve your community.

Membership categories include:

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

The EMT role provides the most direct impact to the welfare of the patient and is the membership role we are most urgently seeking to fill. This includes committing to become a NJ State Department of Health certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT). You do not need to be EMT certified to join; certification can be pursued once your service with SAS has begun. Training taken outside the organization, including the initial EMT certification, is reimbursed after successful completion. Ongoing training is provided in house when possible.

Cadet

Our cadet program is especially geared towards junior members starting at age 16. This role provides the opportunity for younger adults to become exposed to the volunteer EMS experience while closely guided and mentored by senior members of the organization. The cadet role is perfect for young adults to discover the personal reward in public service and is structured in a way as not to impact commitments to their education.

Ambulance Driver

Those wishing to assist EMT members with aiding patients without direct patient care responsibilities can opt for the Ambulance Driver role. Training on the operation of an emergency vehicle, basic CPR, as well as how to assist EMT members in lifting, moving, equipment identification/retrieval and patient transport are components of this role.

Associate Member

Tremendous efforts and significant time are required to run any organization, ours included. If you are unwilling or unable to help respond to the aid of patients but still have talents in areas such as business administration, finance, publicity, technology, maintenance, or event planning skills are desperately needed!
